Basic Hand Signals for Cyclists

Being visible and predictable are key to riding safely as we share the road with other modes of transport. While drivers are able to use brake and signal lights to warn other road users of their next move, our simple bicycles come with an obvious limitation. Informing our fellow cyclists and the drivers around us of our next move is a smart way to maintain the harmony we desire.

These hand signals are almost universal and can be used here in the Philippines or abroad. Try them out on your next ride and share this article with your friends so they too could be more safe on the road.
